Elephant Day Care Program is a specialized initiative designed to provide care, protection, and rehabilitation for pregnant and young elephants, particularly those are in need of a safe environment. These programs are often run by CEK conservation center. The focus is on improving the well-being of elephants, offering them a nurturing environment that simulates their natural habitat.
Feeding and Nutrition: Elephants are provided with a balanced diet consisting of grass, coconut fronds, Jackfruit leaves, kithul bada ,fruits, vegetables, and other natural foods that meet their dietary needs. Proper nutrition is essential to their health and longevity.
Medical Care: The program includes veterinary care for the elephants, addressing any injuries, diseases, or conditions they may have. Regular check-ups ensure that the elephants remain in optimal health.
Behavioral Enrichment: Elephants are highly intelligent animals and require stimulation to prevent boredom. The program offers activities that encourage natural behaviors such as foraging, social interaction, and physical exercise.
Socialization: Elephants are social creatures and benefit from being around other elephants. The program often provides opportunities for them to interact with other members of their species in a safe and controlled environment.
Habitat Management: The elephants are given access to a large, naturalistic habitat, such as forested areas or grasslands, where they can roam, forage, and engage in activities that mimic their wild behavior.
Conservation Education and Awareness: Many elephant day care programs include educational components, where visitors learn about elephant conservation, the challenges elephants face, and how to protect these magnificent creatures in the wild.
